Project Overview:
The renovation of the Hitchcock Wing at Jefferson House, part of Hartford HealthCare, transformed a dark, outdated long-term care facility into a warm, inviting environment promoting health and well-being. Spanning 5,500 sf, the design emphasizes biophilic principles with wood finishes, abundant natural light, and clear wayfinding. Central features include a two-tiered nurses’ station fostering resident-staff connection, a cozy dining area, and a sitting space with a fireplace. A wood ceiling seamlessly guides residents to a shaded patio with wooded views. Thoughtful material choices, improved lighting, and enhanced circulation create an inclusive, uplifting space for seniors with diverse needs. Completed 2022.
