Project Overview:
The Stayer Shelter, located in an exurban community of migrant farm workers provides housing and services for victims of human trafficking and domestic violence who were reluctant to travel to an existing shelter 45 miles away.
The facility houses up to 60 persons and provides a myriad of other services.
With little to no information available on the design of shelters for human trafficking victims and no new structures built for that purpose in the US, the architect has developed a new building type informed by the experiences of the client and former victims.
