Project Overview:
The Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner (PCOME) expanded its services to 11 counties, prompting the need for a larger, modern facility. The original building, constructed in 1999, couldn’t meet rising demands, with autopsies increasing 40% by 2019. A new 37,000-square-foot facility at Kino Medical Campus now includes six autopsy stations, anthropology and imaging labs, and storage for 200–300 bodies. It also offers cremation services, including animal cremations, which boosts efficiency. Designed for future growth, the facility separates public and staff areas, supporting advanced forensic technologies, and ensures PCOME meets regional needs with high standards of public service.
