Project Overview:
Hailed as “food and art in the woodlands,” the first mass timber project on campus has become an instant hit with
students.
Residing at the intersection of nourishment, environmental stewardship, and joy, the theme of light(ness) is the
conceptual backbone of this transformative project. This includes light structure, environmental impact, and abundant
natural light.
Ensuring the concept was proven out, we conducted a Whole Building Life Cycle Assessment that calculates current
environmental impacts for a building over a 60-year period. The study focused on impacts associated the supply chain of
raw material extraction, transportation and manufacturing. The results exceeded expectations!
