Project Overview:
The LAX Airport Police Facility unifies nine dispersed sites into a purpose-built headquarters for 1,100 officers, enhancing security, collaboration, and operational efficiency. Embedded within the site’s coastal dunes, the design leverages passive strategies, daylight, and high-performance systems to reduce energy use while maintaining a low profile that fits the surrounding neighborhood. Open floor plates and a central courtyard support training, ceremonies, and informal gathering, linking interior and exterior space. Public-facing amenities - including a multipurpose room, paseo, and public art - foster community connection, demonstrating how a high-security civic building can serve as both a resilient public asset and a good neighbor.
